Year 5's Survival Night – An Adventure to Remember! 🏕 What an incredible adventure Year 5 had during our very own Survival Night! As part of our DT topic, Shelters, and our English learning inspired by Kensuke's Kingdom, we took on the ultimate challenge – designing, building and sleeping in our very own survival shelters in the school hall! Working together in teams, the children planned and designed their shelters before putting their survival skills to the test! With bamboo canes, rope, tarpaulins and the fantastic support of some very much appreciated adults, our budding survival experts created some impressive structures, ready to brave the night! But the adventure didn't stop there! As darkness fell, we grabbed our torches and headed outside for some exciting night-time orienteering, before gathering around the firepit to toast marshmallows and make delicious, gooey s'mores – yum! 🔦🔥 After all that excitement, it was time to get cosy! Armed with hot chocolates, cuddly teddies and plenty of excitement, we snuggled down to enjoy the final chapter of Kensuke's Kingdom. What a magical way to finish our class book! We were absolutely blown away by the children's teamwork, determination, resilience and enthusiasm throughout the entire experience. They supported one another, tackled challenges with a smile and demonstrated some fantastic problem-solving skills. There were certainly a few future Bear Grylls in the making! And perhaps the biggest surprise of all? Once everyone had settled down, the hall was remarkably peaceful, with hardly a stir until 6am! We couldn't have asked for better overnight adventurers! Year 5, you were absolutely AMAZING! We are incredibly proud of every single one of you for embracing the challenge, stepping outside your comfort zones and making this such a memorable experience. What wonderful memories we have made together! 💜💚 Finally, a HUGE thank you to all the wonderful adults who generously gave up their own time to help make our Survival Night possible. 🚴 Bikeability Success! 🚴 Our Year 5 and Year 6 children have recently been taking part in Bikeability, developing their cycling skills and learning how to stay safe on their bikes. Year 5 pupils worked towards Level 1, while our Year 6 pupils took on Level 2, building their confidence and learning valuable skills to help them cycle safely and responsibly. We are proud of all the children for their enthusiasm, determination and achievements. Well done, everyone!

🍂 Harvest Collection – Thank You! 🍂 A huge thank you to our wonderful school community for your generosity and support with our Harvest Collection in aid of New Beginnings, Reading. Today, we were delighted to welcome Karen from New Beginnings, who delivered a wonderful assembly to our children. They learned more about the charity's vital work and how their kind donations will help support others in our local area. We are proud of the kindness and compassion shown by our children and families. Your generosity will make a real difference to others. We had the best day at Legoland. We managed to get on lots of rides in the sunshine and were able to consider how we were going to write about our day out. All the children queued brilliantly and were so polite to all the adults who helped. A big shout-out to our adult helpers who braved the rides to make sure we could all have a go and well done to the children who took on their fears to try new things too. We've had a busy first half-term in Year 1! In Science, we've been learning about the human body and naming different body parts. In Geography, we've had fun creating our own 'messy maps' of the classroom. We also enjoyed a fantastic kickboxing taster session! During our provision time, we've loved using the Magna-Tiles and magnetic cubes to build imaginative creations and share our ideas with our friends. What a fantastic start to Year 1! Miss Watson
