Year 1 Birthday Party-Themed Day

Year 1 had a fantastic birthday party-themed day because who doesn’t love a party celebration, even when it’s nobody’s actual birthday!

We began by reading We Are Going to a Birthday Party and shared our ideas about what we might see or do at a party. The children had some wonderful suggestions and were very excited to bring their ideas to life.

In our classroom we had a pop-up party role play area, complete with balloons, birthday cake, party hats and party food. The children loved taking on different roles and celebrating together. We also had playdough mats to make the correct number of candles to match different numerals, a fun and hands-on way to practise our counting skills.

We also designed and made our own badges. They didn’t have to be birthday badges but they certainly reminded us of birthdays and were lots of fun to create!

To end the day, we enjoyed some traditional party games, including Musical Statues. There was lots of laughter and fantastic participation from everyone. Thank you for a lovely day, Year 1! Miss Gale
