Paralympian Visit
Last week we welcomed Paralympian Aaron Phipps to Year 5, where he shared his amazing journey as a gold medal-winning wheelchair rugby player! Aaron took us through his inspiring sporting career and gave us all a unique insight into the world of Paralympic sport, showing lots of videos and clips of his time at each Paralympics games. We learned how Aaron competes at the highest level, representing Great Britain in wheelchair rugby at the Paralympic Games. His message of perseverance, teamwork and determination truly resonated with all of us, reminding us that with hard work, anything is possible. His motto, 'Set a goal, get organised, ask for help, work hard', really made us think about our goals and how we can achieve them if we take control of our own learning and think about our responsibility in that. We were captivated as we discovered that Aaron not only won a gold medal through incredible dedication and teamwork but also scaled the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro on his hands and knees, when it became clear that he would not be able to achieve his goal in his wheelchair! His story of pushing beyond limits to achieve his goals left everyone feeling motivated and inspired.
