Windsor Castle
As part of our history topic on the Tudors, we arranged a fantastic trip to Windsor Castle! We were lucky enough to take a tour around some areas of the castle, including 'Queen Mary's Dolls House' which is the largest and most famous dolls' house in the world and 'The State Apartments' which include both ceremonial rooms that are used by the Royal Family today and historical rooms. We really enjoyed looking up in each room to admire the amazing ceilings and the chandeliers!
After lunch, we had a workshop about Changing of Monarchs, where we got to dress up as various historical figures such as William the Conqueror and our current monarch, King Charles III. The children represented Downsway so well and had some excellent questions to ask the guides, which made us very proud. It was a brilliant day where we did lots of hands on learning and had a great time too! Well done Year 5!
